Plain-language terms for using this website and the TownSquare beta. The short version: be decent, and know that the app is early software.

Using this site

This site is informational. You're welcome to read it, share it, and sign up for updates. Don't try to break it, scrape it abusively, or use it to harm others.

The beta is early software

TownSquare is in an early beta. Things will break, features will change, and data created during the beta may be reset. We provide the beta "as is," without warranties, and we're not liable for losses arising from beta use. Don't rely on it for anything critical yet.

Your content

You own what you post. By posting, you give us the limited permission needed to display and operate the service. During the early beta, posts can be seen by all users unless specifically blocked, so post accordingly.

Acceptable use

Our content standards are described on our Governance page and are anchored in ACLU and FIRE principles. We prohibit content that causes direct harm: violence, non-consensual sexual content, direct harassment, and illegal activity. This applies equally regardless of viewpoint.

Who we are

TownSquare is operated by Democratize The Internet, a nonprofit. We answer to our mission and our users, not to shareholders.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product develops. We'll update the date above and explain meaningful changes rather than slipping them in quietly.
